في اللغة الإنجليزية هناك لواحق تسمى (Suffixes) تضاف إلى نهاية الكلمات إذا كانت اسماً (noun)، أو صفة (adjective) أو ظرف حال (adverb)، تستخدم هذه اللواحق للتنقل بين أجزاء الكلام parts of speech،تعد اللاحقة al من لواحق الصفات.
